Airservices Australia has installed a highly accurate radar system at Sydney (Kingsford Smith) Airport known as the Precision Runway Monitor (PRM).

The PRM can potentially cut air traffic delays caused by poor weather by as much as 80 percent.

It is an air traffic control surveillance tool designed to improve the performance of existing Instrument Landing System (ILS) flight paths in poor weather conditions, The result is ILS PRM approaches.
