Contract tower management services

For over 20 years, the United States Federal Aviation Administration’s Contract Tower Program has provided air traffic control (ATC) services at visual flight rule (VFR) towers throughout the USA mainland and in Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Saipan .

In 2004, Airservices was awarded contracts to provide tower air traffic control management for the FAA at towers in Hawaii (John Rogers Field, an Air National Guard airport in Kalaeloa), Keahole-Kona, Lihue and Molokai and at towers in Guam and Saipan - the major airports on these Pacific islands.

Winning of these contracts demonstrates the FAA’s confidence in Airservices Australia’s professional management of safety critical services and commitment to be a major player in airspace and airside services provision.

Tower facilities and operations

Airservices tower operations span geographically diverse locations and the full spectrum of aviation environments (international, regional, general aviation aerodromes). We provide International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standard services at 26 Australian airports and five United States towers under contract to the US FAA with a workforce of over 300 tower controllers.
